Shinas Port Achieves Record Growth in 2024, Strengthening Oman’s Trade and Economy

Shinas, Oman – Shinas Port, a strategic maritime hub in the South Al Batinah Governorate, has witnessed exceptional growth in 2024, reinforcing its role in boosting Oman’s economy and enhancing regional and international trade.

Significant Surge in Cargo and Vessel Movements

According to the latest statistics, Shinas Port handled 707 vessels in 2024, marking a 41% increase compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth underscores the port’s expanding capacity and its pivotal role in Oman’s logistics and maritime industry.

Record-Breaking Cargo Volume and Trade Value

Khater bin Ali Al Maamari, Executive Director of Shinas Port, revealed that the port managed over 100,000 tonnes of goods, with a total trade value exceeding OMR 11.5 million. These figures reflect the port’s efficiency in handling imports and exports, making it a key player in Oman’s trade sector.

Imports and Key Commodities

In 2024, the port received 91,343 tonnes of imports, including:

  • Building materials: 21,665.98 tonnes
  • Food products: 4,083.07 tonnes
  • General goods: 4,273.68 tonnes
  • Livestock and camels: 15,815 animals, weighing 469 tonnes

Growing Export Sector

On the export front, Shinas Port facilitated the shipment of 11,676.12 tonnes of goods, including:

  • Building materials: 461 tonnes
  • Food items: 33 tonnes
  • General goods: 8,643 tonnes
  • Livestock and camels: 2,133 tonnes

Infrastructure Development Driving Growth

Al Maamari emphasized that this exceptional performance is a direct result of continuous infrastructure development, enhanced port services, and advanced logistics solutions. The port’s modern facilities and strategic location make it a key enabler for Oman’s economic diversification plans, attracting both domestic and international trade partners.
