The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology in Oman recently signed three major agreements aimed at improving road infrastructure, ports, and maritime services. These agreements align with the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the country’s transport network and boost its economy.
New Road Project: Izki-Nizwa Dual Carriageway
The first agreement, signed with Galfar Engineering and Contracting, focuses on a 30-kilometer dual carriageway project. This road will connect Izki and Nizwa in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, improving travel efficiency and regional connectivity.
Boosting Port Operations in Shaleem W’Al Halaniyat Islands
The second agreement, made with Manji International Ports, aims to develop a port in the Wilayat of Shaleem W’Al Halaniyat Islands. This port will specialize in transporting quarry products, boosting Oman’s maritime capacity and supporting the growth of the export sector.
Enhancing Port Sultan Qaboos
The third agreement, signed with Omani Integrated Logistic Services (ILS Oman), focuses on the operation and development of ship supply and crew change activities at Port Sultan Qaboos. This agreement will help the port play a greater role in tourism and commercial activities, supporting the country’s goal to expand the maritime sector.
Focus on Infrastructure and Economic Growth
These agreements represent a significant step forward in Oman’s infrastructure development. The Ministry of Transport aims to strengthen road and port networks, improving both domestic and international connectivity. These projects will not only support the economy but also improve the quality of life for Oman’s residents.
