Oman citizens and residents are eagerly awaiting the Eid Al Fitr holiday, marking the end of Ramadan and the first major holiday of 2025. Depending on the Moon sighting, the holiday may last either five or nine days.
Moon Sighting and Holiday Duration
The Moon-sighting committee will meet on Saturday, March 29 (the 29th of Ramadan) to observe the crescent moon. If the Moon is sighted, Ramadan will end after 29 days, and the Eid Al Fitr holiday will begin on Sunday, March 30, lasting until Tuesday, April 1. With the preceding weekend, this would result in a five-day holiday, and work would resume on Wednesday, April 2.
Extended Break Possibility
However, if the Moon is not sighted on March 29, Ramadan will extend to 30 days. This means Sunday, March 30 (the 30th of Ramadan) will also be a holiday, and the Eid holiday would continue until Wednesday, April 2. Including the following Thursday, April 3, and the two weekends, residents of Oman could enjoy a nine-day break.
A Chance to Celebrate with Family
This extended holiday period offers a wonderful opportunity for Oman’s citizens and residents to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, spend time with loved ones, and take part in various cultural and festive activities.
