Fake Doctor in Madhya Pradesh Hospital: 7 Patients Dead After Botched Surgeries

A horrifying scam has come to light in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, where a fake doctor allegedly performed unauthorized heart surgeries at a Christian missionary hospital. At least 7 patients have died, sparking outrage and a high-level investigation.

Fake Doctor Posed as British Cardiologist

The accused, Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, claimed to be Dr. N John Kem, a reputed British cardiologist. He used fake documents to get a job at the hospital. Authorities say he performed multiple surgeries without proper qualifications or licenses.

Suspicious Deaths Trigger Investigation against Fake Doctor

Families began raising concerns after a spike in patient deaths over a single month. Advocate Deepak Tiwari, who also heads the Child Welfare Committee in the district, filed a formal complaint with the Damoh District Magistrate.

“Some families were suspicious. They moved their loved ones to Jabalpur. That’s when we found out the truth—this man was not who he claimed to be,” said Tiwari.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme Also Under Scrutiny

The hospital was reportedly receiving funds under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Priyank Kanoongo from the National Human Rights Commission confirmed the link. He called the situation serious and said the investigation was in full swing.

“A fake cardiologist carried out surgeries in a hospital funded by Ayushman Bharat. This cannot be ignored,” Kanoongo said.

Documents Seized, Fake Identity Confirmed

Investigators have now seized all hospital documents. They discovered that Narendra Yadav had copied the credentials of the real Dr. N John Kem. He also has a criminal case pending in Hyderabad, raising questions about how he secured the job.

Past Online Activity Raises More Alarms

This isn’t Yadav’s first act of deception. In 2023, he tweeted under the fake identity of Dr. Kem, suggesting that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath be sent to France to stop riots. That tweet was widely mocked. He also posted edited photos with CM Yogi under the same false identity.

Officials Respond

Damoh Collector Sudhir Kochar stated that he would issue a formal statement after the investigation ends. SP Abhishek Tiwari confirmed that the matter is under active investigation, focusing on the 7 deaths and the hospital’s hiring practices.
