In a recent statement, the Ministry of Education and Social Communication of Oman addressed the ongoing discussions on social media regarding the “percentage of students passing in the first semester” of the 2024/2025 academic year. The Ministry wants to clear up any confusion by emphasizing that the term “passing percentage in the first semester” is not an official metric. It should not be mistaken for the final academic year result, which is based on cumulative performance throughout the year.
The Ministry reported that the first-semester pass rate for the 2024/2025 academic year stands at approximately 80.76%, a figure that aligns with previous years’ results. Specifically, the pass rates for the past three academic years were 80.85%, 80.78%, and 80.24%, indicating consistency in the performance of students. This percentage represents the students who achieved a passing grade of 50% or higher.
Additionally, the Ministry highlighted that a significant number of students performed exceptionally well. A total of 20,269 students achieved scores ranging between 80% and 99.88%, and 8,660 students scored between 90% and 99.88%. These results further demonstrate the success of Oman’s education system and reflect the efforts made to improve student performance continuously.
The Ministry reaffirmed that these passing rates are consistent with historical data and are within the expected range for grade distribution. They reiterated their commitment to enhancing the educational experience by investing in curriculum development, teacher training, and a variety of educational programs and initiatives.
The Ministry of Education aims to ensure that these developments lead to improved academic performance and overall student success. With a continued focus on educational advancement, Oman is making strides toward a brighter future for its students.
